When David Kendal from the Colne Valley Masonic Lodge found out about the finically challenges our charity, Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust, were having to heat our premises, David suggested that we applied for a donation from the Lodge.
Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust is a charity providing much needed support for children and young people who face difficulty accessing mainstream services or disadvantage due to poverty, financial hardship, disability, illness as well as risk from harm inside and outside the home.
Everything we do is funded through grants, donations and fundraising. Our home is the beautiful Northorpe Hall in Mirfield and provides a safe space for us to help as many families as they can. A small downside is that it is a listed building and can be expensive to maintain.
In the last three months all three of our boilers have broken down and require replacing. As winter approaches, we were facing considerable unexpected cost at the coldest time of the year. Thanks to the financial support from the Lodge, we are now able to go ahead with the work needed to ensure our spaces are heated during the winter.
Helen Parker said, ‘As a charity we are so grateful for the support any individual or organisation gives us. Our work with children, young people and their families, whether it be mentoring, therapy or our CREATE program, is transformational. This donation means so much to us and we are grateful to David Kendal for reaching out to us and to Colne Valley Masonic Lodge for supporting us’.
